This is the account of a journeyman, or apprentice, as he travels life's winding road and learns more about himself, the world, and how to help other people achieve their best. Many experiences bring rewards, in new things learned, but sometimes, just the experience of having been there ... being the first there ... or being one of the few who have been there. This can lead to seeking to understand more of the philosophy of learning, or learning theory.
Learning theories can be categories into three broad groups:
1. Behaviourism
2. Cognitivism
3. Constructivism
We shall consider each of these in turn.

High tech ICTs and frustration.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever tried to read an encyclopedia by looking through a keyhole? That is how I sometimes feel trying to use high tech ICTs. Although only my computer is only about five years old it is sooooooo sloooooow.
Trying to understand material when webpages pages don't open or take 'forever' to open is quite difficult. I am sure the geeks thought they knew what they were doing, but ordinary people struggle to follow their work.
For example, on Saturday I spent an hour trying to instal Flash player 10.2. I progressed passed 'download' to a page that stated that the following page would have one of four options. Well, there was no way forward, no way to get to the following page.
Yes, I appreciate that the teacher needs to test everything before the students attempt a process, and that alternate routes and options need to be ready to avoid wasting the students' time when things do not work.
Am running a bit slow ... have just added my blog URL to the Wiki Page2 and was suprised that I worked out how to make the link active. So, the tool / vehicle utilised seems to be adequate for the purpose.
